The London Terminals

Each of London’s dozen or so principal termini and each of the routes radiating from the capital has its own very individual atmosphere, partly taken from the countryside, partly from the history of the trades carried on and the nature of the railway company that built it in pre-Victorian days. Britain gave railways to the world, and in many places such as North Wales where many ‘Little Railways’ have been re-opened as popular tourist attractions, railways themselves are an interesting part of the nation’s fabric.

Often local touring is best done by road, picking up a car from the mainline station, but also watch out for branch lines that intimately hug sea shores and run down picturesque valleys where time seems to have stood still.
